TV viewing by kids will skyrocket 150% this summer!*
The National PTA, National Education Association, and the National Council of Women's Organizations, among many other nonprofit organizations, are leading a new effort to help parents and caregivers improve the programs children watch.
Increased summertime TV viewing makes it even more difficult to monitor what kids watch. Help us send a message to Hollywood producers that we need more quality kids' programming on TV -- so that TV viewing is a time for learning and not a waste of time, and not harmful to kids. STA's "OutSmart the Summer Spike" Petition:
To the Presidents of ABC, NBC, CBS, and Cable Companies:
TV viewing by children skyrockets by 150% in the summer, making it even more difficult for parents and caregivers to monitor what kids watch. Please help us make a difference.
We want to see MORE children's television programming that is not only entertaining but educational, age-appropriate and safe. We urge you to offer shows for children under the age of 14 that support educational standards and focus on positive social development and relationships, rather than gratuitous violence and sex. I'll do my part, but you need to do yours.
After signing the petition, you will receive information via email on how you can take an active role in improving the quality of TV that your family watches. Your email address will not be shared with others.
